Friendly Visitor Program

The Friendly Visitor program provides "social visits" by screened and trained volunteer to homebound seniors.  The purpose of this free program is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation of seniors. Also, the visitor provides information about community resources available to seniors to help retain their independence as long as they choose.

SENIORS WANTING FRIENDLY VISITOR

  • Seniors must be 60 and over, homebound (no longer driving), and able to interact socially.
  • Volunteer and senior matches are based on shared interests, geography, volunteer availability and personality as much as possible.

TO BECOME A FRIENDLY VISITOR

Volunteers need to be 25 years or older, will need to fill out an application providing two references, interviewed and if accepted, attend a 2-3hour training orientation. Volunteers will be matched to a senior for weekly visits of an hour or more.
