AARP TAX ASSISTANCE PROGRAM – Annual tax preparation assistance
Adult Day Care - Men and Women join together to enjoy each other's company, play cards and table games, work on crafts, participate in an exercise program and art/quilting classes and enjoy a nutritious and affordable meal. Some programs include physical therapy, social work services, nursing care by registered nurses, occupational therapy, coordinated therapeutic activities, living skills and caregiver respite.
Friendly Visitors - Friendly Visitors are volunteers who visit isolated seniors
regularly in his/her home.
HICAP - Counseling to Medicare beneficiaries about Medicare, supplemental health insurance and long term care insurance as well as legal representation for those who appeal adverse Medicare decisions. Information on Medicare benefits and limitations and assistance filling out Medicare forms and reconsideration forms for Medicare claim denials. Information for ways to compare and evaluate private insurance policies designed to supplement Medicare, including long term care policies.
Home Delivered Meals - Available through Meals-on-Wheels programs
Home Maintenance and Repair - They do work ranging from installation of
grab bars to converting stairs into handicap accessible ramps.
Homeowners and Renters Assistance Program - Homeowners/Renters assistance is a once-a-year reimbursement from the State of California based on your annual income and on the property taxes assessed and paid on your home or paid indirectly when you pay rent.
Hospice Care - Comprehensive care for a terminally ill person.
Housing Options – Education on the different out of home options, what they provide, what they don't provide and what they cost
Lifeline - A small mechanical devices, which is designed to allow someone to
call for help very simply. Wo rn like jewelry, either around the neck or wrist, help
is only a button-push away.
Senior Centers - Senior Centers are the heart of community
activity for older adults. Programs might include classes, travel, volunteer
opportunities, meals and opportunities to socialize.
Transportation Services - Busses and vans are available for visits to the
doctor, grocery store, senior center, etc. Trips are sometimes limited and
reservations are often necessary.
